Mohali. The hosting of the Cricket World Cup-2023 has been given to India. For this, emphasis has been laid on the beautification of stadiums located in all the states of the country. At the same time, experts have raised questions about Mohali's IS Bindra Cricket Stadium not being selected for a single match. Also, cricket lovers are angry after the city did not get to host a single match.

At the same time, now the PCA (Punjab Cricket Association) has decided to get the interior work done at IS Bindra Cricket Stadium and Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Cricket Stadium (Mullanpur Stadium) on both stadiums in the district. PCA has now called for tenders for providing all the facilities and getting the interior work done in these stadiums. The interior work of the North Pavilion and Player Pavilion at Mullanpur Stadium is to be completed in five months. At the same time, interior work will also be done in Player Zone-1 and Zone-2 at IS Bindra Cricket Stadium, which will be completed in 40 days. The department has invited tenders for this. If everything goes well, work will start here soon.

While cricket lovers are against this decision of getting PCA's interior work done. He says that this decision should have been taken on time. If the PCA had got this decision done earlier, then perhaps this stadium would have got to host some matches. Teams from 10 countries are participating in the World Cup-2023 and 48 matches including the final are to be played in them. Mohali was expected to host the World Cup till the schedule was released, but nothing happened to Mohali after the schedule was released.

Mohali has hosted two World Cup matches

Matches are being played at Mohali's cricket stadium since 1993. So far 14 Tests, 26 ODIs, and nine T20 matches have been played here. Even after this, this time this ground did not host a single match in the World Cup 2023. Earlier, the last World Cup was held in India in 2011. Then the semi-final match between India and Pakistan took place here. India won that match. Before 2011, India had hosted the World Cup in 1996. Then the semi-final was played here between Australia and West Indies in which Australia won. Three matches were also played here in the 2016 T20 World Cup.

Beautification work of Mullanpur-IS Bindra Cricket Stadium is to be done. Tenders have been sought for this, whichever company will be ready to work at the lowest price, then only that one will be given the tender for this work. Deepak Sharma, Chief Executive Officer
