Each franchise will now have the ability to retain six players ahead of the 2025 mega auction, a significant increase aimed at maintaining team stability.
Return of Right to Match (RTM) card:
RTM cards are being reintroduced, allowing franchises to match bids for one of their retained players during the auction. This strategic move gives teams more control over their roster.
Despite mixed reactions from some players, including Indian captain Rohit Sharma, the IPL Governing Council has confirmed the continuation of the impact player rule from 2025 to 2027.
The auction amount of each team will be increased from Rs 100 crore to Rs 120 crore, giving franchises more resources to strengthen their squad.
Retention salary structure:
First retention: Rs 18 crore
Second retention: Rs 14 crore
Third retention: Rs 11 crore
Fourth retention: Rs 18 crore
