India's women's cricket team successfully defeated Sri Lanka by 19 runs in the Asian Games and won the historic gold medal. Team India defeated Sri Lanka in the Asian Games women's T20 cricket competition with the help of brilliant innings from Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodriguez along with a brilliant three-wicket haul from Titas Sadhu.
With this victory, India won its first gold medal in cricket at the Asian Games. Jemimah Rodrigues and Smriti Mandhana scored 42 and 46 runs for India.

Titas Sadhu gave the Indian women's team a brilliant start with the ball, taking three wickets in just two overs and finishing with astonishing figures of 3/6 in four overs. A 36-run partnership between Hasini Perera and Nilakshi de Silva propelled Sri Lanka to victory at 14/3.
Perera's wicket of Rajeshwari Gaikwad gave India the much-needed breakthrough. Then, India maintained its dominance in the last five overs to give India its first gold medal in cricket.
