Match Fixing: Match fixing is very bad not only in cricket but in any sport. After match fixing, the fans of that sport lose faith in it. Match fixing is a dark chapter for any sport.
This not only makes the fans lose faith in that player but also in other players of that team. Indian cricket has also not been untouched by dark deeds like fixing. There are many players who were caught red handed on the charges of fixing but later they were acquitted with honour.
Indian players have also done match fixing
Mohammad Azharuddin- Former captain of India Mohammad Azharuddin was caught on the charges of fixing in the year 2000. After which a lifetime ban was imposed on him but he challenged this decision in the court after which the lifetime ban was lifted from him and he was acquitted with honour.
In the year 1999-2000, former South African captain Hansie Cronje had accused Azharuddin that he had introduced him to a bookie after which Azharuddin was charged with match fixing.
Ajay Jadeja- Ajay Jadeja was also accused of match fixing in the same series and after that he was also banned by the BCCI but he went to the High Court and challenged that decision after which his ban was made for 5 years. However, he was also acquitted with honour from the charges against him.
S Sreesanth- S Sreesanth was a former fast bowler of India who was accused of match fixing in IPL in 2013, after which he and two of his teammates Ajit Chandela and Ankit Chavan were arrested by the police.
After the fixing allegations, Sreesanth was banned for life, against which he went to the High Court where his lifetime ban was reduced to 7 years and he was also acquitted.
