'Someone brought water and said we have to cross the 287 mark', Ishan Kishan revealed after the match

Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Rajasthan Royals by 44 runs in the second match of IPL 2025. This match was played on Sunday, 23 March at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Ishan Kishan scored a brilliant century for SRH and played an important role in his team's victory. In this match, Sunrisers scored the second-highest score in the history of the Indian Premier League and told that the opposition bowlers are not good this season too.

Ishan Kishan, who played in the SRH jersey for the first time, also made a statement by scoring a brilliant unbeaten century. After the 44-run win over Rajasthan Royals at home, Kishan revealed that during his innings he received a message from the dugout that he had to break his team's record of the highest score in the IPL.

The hosts scored 286/6 in this match but they fell one run short of their own record-breaking total. 'Player of the Match' Kishan said that he also had the magical figure of 300 in his mind. But due to the dismissals of Heinrich Klaasen, Aniket Verma and Abhinav Manohar in the last two overs, he could not reach this number.

Kishan said after his first IPL century, "Someone came in the middle with a water bottle and said that we have to cross this score (their record of 287). I was like this, I did not know if any target was set or something, but yes, when you do not achieve the target, it feels like you want to do it again. We did not do it today, so it is good for us to achieve that target. Some days when we get a good start, batsmen are ready, then we will try and definitely make a record score."

After retaining their core batting lineup and skipper Pat Cummins, SRH's most expensive purchase in the auction was Kishan. The former Mumbai Indians (MI) wicketkeeper-batsman was bought for Rs 11.25 crore. Kishan revealed that he called Abhishek Sharma and asked him if he needed to hit big shots from the first ball itself, to which the youngster said 'yes'.
