West Indies' explosive batsman Shimron Hetmyer has added an unwanted record to his name. He was run out by Shreyas Iyer in the first T20I against India in Lucknow.

Shimron Hetmyer added an unwanted record to his name in the first T20I between India and the West Indies. He was run out by Shreyas Iyer in the first T20I in Lucknow. Hetmyer previously held the record for the most run-outs by a Caribbean batsman in T20I cricket. This was Hetmyer's sixth run-out in this format.

Shimron Hetmyer's run-out was also controversial. He was seen expressing his displeasure after the decision. In fact, Hetmyer's bat was in the air despite crossing the white line, which is why he was declared run out.

Hetmyer is the West Indies batsman who has been run out the most times in T20Is. He has lost his wicket while running six times so far. He is followed by Andre Fletcher, Lendl Simmons, Shai Hope, Akeal Hossain, Sunil Narine, and Andre Russell. All of these batsmen have been run out four times each in T20Is.

Hetmyer hit a four off his first ball of the innings, but was run out on the very next ball and returned to the dressing room. This is the second time Hetmyer has been run out in a T20 match against India. He enjoys playing in India, with a T20 average of nearly 30. Hetmyer has scored a total of 467 runs in 17 innings played in India, including three half-centuries.

Looking back at the first T20I between India and West Indies, captain Shai Hope smashed 52 runs off 37 balls. Sherfane Rutherford anchored the innings, hitting a plethora of boundaries and sixes at the Ekana Stadium.
