What to eat in the month of Sawan?
Dietitian Shweta says that whether you fast or eat a normal meal during the month of Sawan, you should eat a light and balanced diet. During this season, you should include foods that are easily digestible in your diet.
- During the month of Sawan, be sure to eat fruits like bananas, apples, papayas, and pomegranates, along with seasonal fruits.
- These provide energy and hydration to the body.

- Eat things made from buckwheat, water chestnut and amaranth (rajgira) flour.
- Include milk, yogurt, buttermilk, and cheese in your diet. These will provide your body with protein and calcium.
- Make sure to include vegetables like potatoes, pumpkin, gourd and raw banana in your diet.
- Make sure to eat dried fruits, makhana (spinach) seeds, and rock salt. This provides strength to the body and maintains electrolyte balance.
- Drinking lukewarm water, coconut water and fennel-celery water will prevent water deficiency in the body and digestion will also remain healthy.
What not to eat in the month of Sawan?
Heavy meals should be avoided during the month of Sawan. They are difficult to digest. Especially at night, eat light meals. You can even have just soup for dinner.
- Do not include wheat, pulses and gram flour in your diet.
- Stay away from garlic, onion and spicy foods.

- It would be better to stay away from non-vegetarian foods, eggs and alcohol.
