No one wants her husband to leave her forever. But if a woman becomes a widow in Islam, then there are very strict rules for her.

In Muslim society, if a woman's husband has died, then there is a period of waiting for her called Iddat. This period is of 4 months and 10 days i.e. 128 days after the death of the husband.

Iddat is a period prescribed for women after the death of their husband or divorce.

The purpose of Iddat is to ensure that if a pregnancy has occurred before the death or separation of one of the spouses, the paternity of that pregnancy can be clearly identified.

If a woman is pregnant, the Iddat continues until she gives birth to the child.

According to a Muslim website, the woman should mourn during this period. She should not wear gold, perfume or saffron coloured clothes.

While mourning, a widowed woman avoids wearing makeup, perfume, mascara, skin cream (unless she has a valid excuse for using it), henna, and clothing dyed with safflower and saffron.
