Rajasthan Royals vs Chennai Super Kings Result: Rajasthan Royals got their first win of the season after losing two consecutive matches. Whereas Chennai Super Kings have faced their second consecutive defeat in three matches. This time even Dhoni could not come early and change the fate of the team.

Rajasthan Royals have finally opened their account in IPL 2025. Riyan Parag, captaining Rajasthan in his home ground of Guwahati, defeated Chennai Super Kings by 6 runs in a thrilling match that lasted till the last over. In this way, after losing 2 consecutive matches, Rajasthan registered a win in the third match. On the other hand, Chennai has faced defeat in the second consecutive match. Earlier, the team was defeated by Royal Challengers Bangalore. Nitish Rana and Wanindu were the stars of this victory of Rajasthan, but in the last over, Sandeep Sharma once again stopped MS Dhoni and snatched the chance of victory from Chennai.
Nitish Rana thrashed Chennai
In the match played at Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati on Sunday, March 30, Rajasthan Royals batted first and scored a strong score of 182 runs. For that, Nitish Rana played an explosive innings of 81 runs in just 36 balls and laid the foundation for the team to reach this score. This was Rana's first half-century for this franchise. In response, despite a strong half-century from captain Rituraj Gaikwad, Chennai could only reach 176 runs in 20 overs and lost the match by 6 runs.
Rajasthan once again lost the first wicket early. Yashasvi Jaiswal was out in the first over itself. But this time Rajasthan corrected its mistake and sent number three specialist Nitish Rana. The team finally got the benefit of this and Rana attacked the Chennai bowlers as soon as he came. This left-handed batsman hit Ravichandran Ashwin, Khalil Ahmed and Jamie Overton fiercely and scored a half-century in 21 balls in the powerplay itself. Nitish could not complete his century but he laid the foundation for a good score for the team. Apart from him, captain Riyan Parag (38) and Sanju Samson (20) also contributed a little. Noor Ahmed (2/28) and Mathisha Pathirana (2/28) again brought success for Chennai.
After Archer, Hasaranga demolished Chennai
In response, Chennai also lost the wicket of star opener Rachin Ravindra (0) in the first over itself. Fast bowler Joffra Archer, who was badly beaten in the last two matches, wreaked havoc in the powerplay this time and pushed Chennai on the backfoot by conceding a total of 13 runs in 3 overs including a maiden. However, this time Rahul Tripathi (23) definitely made the team's powerplay better by scoring some runs. But after the powerplay, Sri Lankan spinner Wanindu Hasaranga destroyed Chennai's middle order. He took the wickets of Tripathi, Shivam Dubey and Vijay Shankar one by one. However, captain Gaikwad (63) kept the team in the match by scoring a half-century and took the score forward with Ravindra Jadeja (32 not out). But once again Hasaranga (4/35) gave a shock to Chennai in his last over and took Gaikwad's wicket.
Sandeep stopped Dhoni again
MS Dhoni, who faced criticism after coming at number 9 in the last match, came in the 16th over this time. He, along with Jadeja, brought the team closer to the target. Chennai needed 20 runs in the last over and Dhoni was on strike. Riyan Parag handed the ball to Sandeep Sharma and after starting with a wide ball, Sandeep almost ensured the team's victory by taking the wicket of Dhoni (16) on the very first ball. Shimron Hetmyer took a brilliant catch on the boundary and sent Dhoni back to the pavilion. Sandeep gave away just 13 runs and led the team to a 6-run victory. Earlier in 2023 too, Sandeep had led the team to victory by defending 21 runs in the last over against Dhoni.
