In its recently announced central contract list for the 2024–25 season, the BCCI has selected 34 players across various grades. Among returning stars and new inductees, only one player has been promoted to a higher grade — and that honor goes to none other than Rishabh Pant.
Pant Moves from Grade B to Grade A
This promotion marks a major milestone in Pant’s career and is a testament to his remarkable journey — especially after the near-fatal car accident in late 2022 that had cast serious doubts over his future. Since then, Pant has scripted a stellar comeback, regaining form as both a player and leader.
He led Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024, returned as a mainstay in India’s lineup, and played a key role in India’s T20 World Cup 2024 victory. Pant also featured in the 2025 Champions Trophy win, solidifying his status as a match-winner.
What This Promotion Means
- Grade B (previous): ₹3 crore annually
- Grade A (current): ₹5 crore annually
Beyond the financial leap, a Grade A contract is a strong endorsement of Pant’s value to the Indian team across formats. It signifies the board’s faith in his consistency, fitness, and big-match temperament.
