Ravindra Jadeja has once again etched his name in the record books, becoming the world number one Test all-rounder for the longest time ever. In the latest ICC rankings, Jadeja holds the top spot with an impressive 400 rating points, marking a milestone few can achieve in the world of cricket.
Jadeja’s dominance in Test cricket has been remarkable. He first ascended to the number one position on March 9, 2022, after surpassing West Indies' Jason Holder. Since then, he has maintained his position at the summit for 1,152 days, marking a continuous reign of over 38 months. This achievement has set a new world record for the most number of days spent as the top-ranked Test all-rounder.
Although Jadeja had briefly held the number one position in 2017 for a week, his current streak has outpaced all others. His closest competition in the latest rankings comes from Bangladesh's Mehdi Hasan Miraz, who holds 327 rating points, while Marco Jansen of South Africa has dropped to the third spot.
Jadeja's exceptional all-round performances with both bat and ball have been key to his success. His consistency on the field continues to set him apart, making him a dominant figure in Test cricket. Notably, Jadeja's rise in the rankings comes amidst the departure of stalwarts like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma from the format, cementing Jadeja's status as one of the modern greats.
Currently, the top 5 Test all-rounders include:
- Ravindra Jadeja – 400 points
- Mehdi Hasan Miraz – 327 points
- Marco Jansen – 294 points
- Pat Cummins
- Shakib Al Hasan
Jadeja's record-setting reign at the top highlights his invaluable contribution to Indian and world cricket, particularly in the longest format of the game.
