IND vs SA ODI: Ravichandran Ashwin has expressed his displeasure over the role of an all-rounder in the Indian team. He has offered important advice to Gautam Gambhir and the team management.

Ravichandran Ashwin's sharp statement
Former Indian spin bowler Ravichandran Ashwin has once again targeted Gautam Gambhir. Ahead of the India vs. South Africa third ODI, Ashwin said that Gautam Gambhir should ensure Washington Sundar's role is clearly communicated. Sundar hasn't performed well with either the bat or the ball in this series. He was sent in at number 5 in the first ODI and at number 6 in the second.
In the first two ODIs against South Africa, Washington Sundar scored 13 and 1 runs, respectively. He failed to take a single wicket. He bowled only 7 overs in both matches. Earlier in the Test series, Sundar was promoted to bat at number 3, but in the very next match, he was sent back down the order.
Ashwin gets angry at Gambhir.
Regarding the turmoil in the batting order, Ravichandran Ashwin said on his YouTube channel, "When you are playing Washington Sundar, first of all, you have to consider him as a bowler who can also bat. You should make him bowl full overs. If he keeps bowling, his mindset will also be that of a bowler who can bat. If he keeps bowling a few overs and batting at any position, he will start losing his identity."
Ashwin further stated that the team management should not allow Sundar to find himself in a situation where he is unable to understand anything. According to Ashwin, Sundar should receive a clear answer regarding his role.
There is no finisher in the team.
Ravichandran Ashwin also questioned whether Team India currently lacks a player capable of finishing games. In the second ODI, India scored 284 runs in 40 overs, but only 74 runs were scored in the final 10 overs. Ashwin pointed out that in Hardik Pandya's absence, Nitish Kumar Reddy, who is known for his big-hitting skills, is sitting on the bench.
