A decades-old demand by villagers in Rajasthan has finally been fulfilled, as the name of the village Rasulpur has officially been changed to Rampur. This significant decision, which had been pending for 30 years, is now drawing attention even in the national capital.
Efforts by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and MLA Kalpana Devi Pay Off
The name change comes after consistent efforts from Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and local MLA Kalpana Devi. Residents have credited them for pushing the long-pending demand forward. Following the official approval, the District Collector has now been authorized to update all official records to reflect the new name.
Villagers Must Update Official Documents
With the renaming now in effect, villagers will be required to update their government documents—such as Aadhaar cards, voter IDs, and land records—to reflect the new name, Rampur. Only after these changes will the new name be fully integrated into administrative systems.
This move, rooted in local sentiment and cultural preference, has sparked conversations even beyond Rajasthan, with discussions reaching Delhi — highlighting how grassroots demands can lead to impactful change when pursued persistently.
