Shreyas Iyer-led Punjab Kings defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 16 runs in a thrilling match of the Indian Premier League 2025 played at Mullanpur, Chandigarh on Tuesday (April 15).
Winning the toss and batting first, Punjab Kings were all out for 111 runs in 15.3 overs. In which Prabhsimran Singh scored 30 runs and Priyansh Arya scored 22 runs. In response, KKR were all out for 95 runs in 15.1 overs. In which Angkrish Raghuvanshi scored the highest 37 runs.
With this win, Punjab also made the record of defending the lowest score in IPL history. Apart from this, it made such an amazing record which was done by only two teams in the world in T20 cricket before this.
Punjab Kings have become the third team in the world in T20 cricket to defend a score of less than 120, but have failed to defend a score of more than 240 runs. Let us tell you that in the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad this season, the Punjab team lost the match despite scoring a huge score of 245 runs.
Before this, only New Zealand and West Indies cricket team had done this.
This is Punjab's fourth win in six matches and the team's net run rate has become +0.172 with eight points. Before this match, Punjab was at number six and now it has come to number four by defeating Lucknow Super Giants.
