Obesity among youth is a matter of concern

He said that excessive consumption of cooking oil is a major reason behind the increasing incidence of obesity. The PM said, "Every age group of the country and even the youth are getting badly affected by it. And this is also a matter of concern because obesity increases the risk of diseases like diabetes, heart disease."

Focus on workouts

PM Narendra Modi urged people to reduce oil intake, workout daily, and focus on a balanced and nutritious diet, leaving many wondering if this was a scheme aimed at tackling obesity, which among other things, also includes discouraging excessive consumption of edible oils.

Consume 10% less oil

PM Modi said, "Ration comes to our homes at the beginning of the month. Till now, if you used to bring home two liters of cooking oil every month, then reduce it by at least 10%. We should reduce the amount of oil we use every day by 10%."
