Prime Minister Narendra Modi remained in command overnight, keeping a close watch on the unfolding of ‘Operation Sindoor’, a high-precision joint military strike targeting terrorist camps across the border in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).
The strike, conducted by coordinated forces of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force, was a direct response to the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 25 Indian civilians and one Nepali national.
Key Details of the Operation:
- Nine terror camps destroyed using precision weapon systems, including loitering munitions
- Targets included top-level operatives and infrastructure of Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba
- Attacks were executed entirely from within Indian territory, highlighting strategic restraint
- Intelligence agencies provided exact locations of terror hideouts
According to Defence Ministry sources, the selected targets were those actively involved in planning and supporting cross-border terrorism in India. The precision strikes were carefully designed to avoid Pakistani military installations, underlining India’s focus on neutralizing terror, not escalating conflict.
“This action was taken in response to the barbaric terrorist attack in Pahalgam. India has shown utmost restraint in target selection and execution,” the official statement said.
Modi’s Direct Involvement
Sources confirmed that Prime Minister Modi personally monitored the mission from its initiation through to the strike’s completion, underscoring the government’s zero-tolerance policy on terrorism.
Pakistan’s Reaction and Violation
In the hours following the airstrike, Pakistan violated the ceasefire by firing artillery across the Bhimber Gali sector in Poonch-Rajouri, prompting a measured and appropriate response from Indian forces.
The Indian Army’s ADGPI wrote on X: “Pakistan has once again violated the ceasefire agreement... Indian Army is responding in a restrained and appropriate manner.”
Meanwhile, mock civil defence drills have been initiated across India to maintain preparedness amid the rising tensions.
