PM Modi arrives in Mauritius: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached Port Louis in Mauritius. He will attend the National Day celebrations of Mauritius as the chief guest on March 12. A contingent of Indian Defense Forces along with an Indian Navy ship will participate in the celebrations. All 34 ministers of this country were present at the airport to welcome PM Modi.

Earlier, Narendra Modi said on Monday that his visit will add a "new and bright" chapter to the relations between the two countries.
PM Modi reaches Port Louis, Mauritius
PM Modi has reached Port Louis, Mauritius. As soon as Modi arrived, members of the Indian expatriate community in Mauritius started gathering outside the hotel in Port Louis, where PM Narendra Modi will arrive soon.
Grand welcome for PM Modi in Mauritius
PM Modi was given a grand and warm welcome in Mauritius at 6 am local time. In this early hour, he was welcomed by top Mauritian personalities. Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam welcomed him by garlanding him. He was accompanied by the Deputy Prime Minister, Chief Justice of Mauritius, Speaker of the National Assembly, Leader of the Opposition, Foreign Minister, Cabinet Secretary, Chairman of the Grand Port District Council and many others. A total of 200 dignitaries were present to welcome the Prime Minister, including MPs, MLAs, diplomatic corps and religious leaders.

Mauritius Deputy Foreign Minister Hambirrajan Narasimhan has said that he is "happy and extremely honoured" by the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Mauritius, and the two countries will try to further strengthen the "already excellent partnership" that exists between them. All 34 ministers were present at the airport to welcome PM Modi with full protocol and pomp.
Modi arrived at the invitation of the Prime Minister of Mauritius
PM Modi has arrived on this visit at the invitation of Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam. He will be a guest at the National Day celebrations of Mauritius. Mauritius's National Day is on March 12. In a statement issued before leaving for Mauritius, Modi had said, "I look forward to the opportunity to engage with the Mauritian leadership to strengthen our enduring friendship and enhance our partnership in all its aspects for the progress and prosperity of our people as well as security and development in the Indian Ocean region, as part of our SAGAR vision."
Indian contingent to participate in Mauritius' National Day celebrations
'SAGAR' stands for 'Security and Growth for All in the Region'. A contingent of the Indian Armed Forces, a warship of the Indian Navy and the Akash Ganga 'Skydiving Team' of the Indian Air Force will participate in the Mauritius National Day celebrations. Modi said that 'Mauritius is a close maritime neighbour, a major partner and the gateway to the African continent in the Indian Ocean. We are connected to each other by history, geography and culture.' He said, 'Deep mutual trust, shared belief in the values of democracy and pride in our diversity are our strengths.'
India is one of Mauritius' largest trading partners. Mauritius was the second-largest source of foreign direct investment in India for 2023-24, after Singapore.
