Pakistan to Host Another ICC Tournament After Champions Trophy

After successfully hosting the Champions Trophy 2025, Pakistan is set to organize another ICC event, marking another milestone for the country’s cricketing scene. The Women's ODI World Cup Qualifier will be played in Pakistan, with a total of six teams participating. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not yet officially announced the schedule or venues for the tournament.

Women's ODI World Cup Qualifier to be Held in Pakistan

The ICC Women's ODI World Cup 2025 is scheduled for October and will be hosted by India. A total of eight teams will compete in the tournament, with six teams already securing their spots. The remaining two teams will be decided through the Women's ODI World Cup Qualifier, which will be held in Pakistan. A PCB official recently confirmed this development.

The six teams competing in the qualifier are:

  1. Pakistan (Hosts)
  2. Scotland
  3. Ireland
  4. Sri Lanka
  5. Thailand
  6. West Indies

The tournament is expected to start on April 4, 2025. However, this could lead to a clash with the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10, which begins on April 11, 2025. Reports suggest that Lahore will likely be the host city for the Women's ODI World Cup Qualifier. This will be the first time a major women’s cricket tournament will be played in Pakistan.

The following teams have already secured their place in the Women's ODI World Cup 2025:
India (Hosts)
Australia
England
South Africa

The final two spots will be filled by the top two teams from the Pakistan-based qualifiers.

India-Pakistan Clash?

If Pakistan qualifies for the World Cup, one of the most anticipated matchups would be India vs Pakistan. However, it remains to be seen where this high-voltage match will be played, given the ongoing political tensions between the two nations.

This tournament marks a significant moment for women’s cricket in Pakistan, and hosting back-to-back ICC events highlights Pakistan’s growing role in international cricket.
