The central government has extended the deadline for the ESIC amnesty scheme, giving employees three more months to settle their cases without penalty.

The government has extended the date of the ESIC Amnesty Scheme.
The Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has made a new decision for the benefit of its employees. Under this decision, the date of the ESIC's new Amnesty Scheme 2025 has been extended by three months. The Ministry of Labor issued a statement stating that the date of this scheme has been extended by three months, until December 31, 2026.
This government decision will provide employers and insured individuals with more time to resolve pending cases, and will also provide an opportunity to close cases without penalty.
Why was the decision taken?
Following the review of suggestions submitted to the ministry by several stakeholders, the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has extended the "New Amnesty Scheme, 2025" by three months. The scheme was originally effective from October 1, 2025, to September 30, 2026, and has now been extended from October 1, 2026, to December 31, 2026.
What is the new amnesty scheme?
The Employees' State Insurance Corporation's (ESIC) "New Amnesty Scheme 2025," launched by the Ministry of Labor, is a dispute resolution initiative aimed at reducing the years-long backlog of cases in court. It also aims to ensure compliance with the rules under the old ESI Act.
This scheme provides employers with a systematic mechanism to resolve legal disputes with the ESIC out of court. It also helps settle ad-hoc assessments by paying the actual contribution and interest, with no penalty.
Additionally, in cases where the employer has already paid the outstanding amount, they can withdraw the case, provided they pay 10% of the compensation amount to the litigant.
