Opium was brought from Nepal, delivery was done in Bihar, RJD leader Shambhu Gupta's drug racket busted

Avnish Kumar Singh/Motihari. Big news is coming from Motihari district of Bihar. In fact, the police has caught an RJD leader considered close to Tejashwi Yadav with opium. In a major action in Motihari district, the police has arrested Shambhu Gupta, the district president of the Extremely Backward Cell of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) with opium worth Rs 1 crore. Two other associates have also been detained with him, one of whom is from Banka and the other from Uttar Pradesh.

This action was taken by a joint team of Bihar STF and district police in Kotwa police station area, which was led by Sadar SDPO Jitesh Pandey. Police had received information that Shambhu Gupta is the kingpin of a big opium smuggling racket, who used to bring opium in large quantities from Nepal and supply it in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. Based on this information, the police laid a trap and caught Shambhu Gupta with 4.074 kg of opium in Kotwa police station area. Rs 55,000 cash and four mobile phones have also been recovered from him.

Criminal history of Shambhu Gupta

According to the police, three cases have already been registered against Shambhu Gupta in serious cases like murder, kidnapping and NDPS in Chhatauni police station of Motihari and Jamshedpur of Jharkhand. Currently, the police is investigating this smuggling racket in depth, so that it can be found out who else is involved in this illegal business and to which places this consignment of opium was to be delivered. The police is busy investigating his entire horoscope that to whom was the opium worth Rs 1 crore to be delivered and who all are involved in this racket?

Sadar SDPO Jitesh Pandey said that a special team was formed to arrest Shambhu Gupta's associates. He said, "We are engaged in exposing the entire network of this racket. In view of Shambhu Gupta's criminal background, his activities are being thoroughly investigated. Let us tell you, this arrest is part of the ongoing campaign against drug trafficking in Bihar. Bihar Police tweeted and informed about this action and called it a major success against drug trafficking.
