In a written reply in Rajya Sabha on Operation Sindoor, Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh said, "Operation Sindoor was launched to respond to Pakistan-sponsored terrorist attacks. Its aim was to destroy terrorist infrastructure and neutralise terrorists being sent to India. India's action was focused, measured, and non-escalatory. However, Pakistan attempted to target Indian civilian areas, apart from some military facilities.''

Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh further wrote that these provocations and escalatory actions by Pakistan were met with a strong and decisive response by the Indian armed forces, causing heavy casualties to the Pakistani army. Following this, on 10 May 2025, the Director General of Military Operations of Pakistan requested his Indian counterpart to cease firing and military activities, which was agreed to later the same day.

Operation Sindoor in response to the Pahalgam terror attack

Pakistani terrorists targeted tourists in Pahalgam on 22 April 2025. A total of 26 people were killed in that attack. After this, India targeted terrorist hideouts located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on the night of 6-7 May under Operation Sindoor. 100 terrorists were killed in that operation. Due to this, Pakistan got furious and started firing indiscriminately, violating the ceasefire across the border. Many innocent civilians died, in response to which India took action and intensified the attack, and destroyed many airbases of Pakistan. Apart from this, the Pakistani air defense system was also destroyed in the attack of the Indian Army. Seeing this, the Pakistani army got scared and immediately requested India to stop the attack.
