Operation Sindoor To avenge the horrific massacre in Pahalgam in which 26 people were killed, Indian armed forces carried out missile strikes in the early hours of Wednesday on nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, including Bahawalpur, the stronghold of the Jaish-e-Mohammed terror group.

India carried out air strikes in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) late on Tuesday night. India carried out precise military action under 'Operation Sindoor', targeting nine terrorist hideouts. This attack was carried out in response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April.

Operation Sindoor: Official Statement

A short while ago, under 'Operation Sindoor', Indian armed forces have targeted terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir from where terror attacks on India were being planned.

A total of 9 locations have been targeted. Our action has been precise, limited and non-provocative. No Pakistani military installation has been targeted. India has shown adequate restraint in target selection and method of execution.

These steps have been taken in the aftermath of the barbaric Pahalgam terror attack in which 25 Indians and a Nepali national were killed. We remain committed to ensuring that those responsible for this attack will be held accountable.

Strategic messaging and limited action

It is clear that India has tried to send a limited but decisive message through this military action... the targets responsible for terrorism will not be spared, but there is no intention to move towards war. Such 'precision strikes' reflect "calibrated deterrence" in India's strategy.

India has also indicated to the international community that it gives importance to regional stability while taking action against terrorism. Now everyone's eyes will be on Pakistan's response and the response of the international community.
