In all the states of the country, both the central and state governments run various scholarships for students studying in schools and colleges. This not only helps economically disadvantaged students to continue their education but also provides financial assistance to them. Keeping this in mind, the Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh has started a scholarship program. Under this program, students belonging to the SC-ST community will get an annual scholarship of Rs 3,500.
Scholarship for students aged 12 to 20 years
It should be noted that this scholarship is exclusively for students from SC and ST communities. Additionally, this scholarship will only be available to students who are registering for the 9th and 10th classes for the academic year 2023-24. According to the information, only 12 to 20-year-old students will be included in this scheme. Students aged 20 years or above or studying in 10th standard are not eligible for this scholarship.
A minimum of 50% marks is required to qualify for the scholarship.
Also, this scholarship will be awarded only to those students who have secured minimum 50% marks in their previous class. Under this scheme, the government is planning to provide scholarships to more than 50 lakh students every year. It is significant that this is the first time that this kind of scholarship is being provided to the students of SC and ST community.
