NCERT's new module on the partition issue, Jinnah, Congress and Mountbatten held responsible for the partition

NCERT's new module on India-Pakistan Partition will make students aware of the truth of history. In this, the pain and lessons of partition will be explained by holding Jinnah, Congress and Mountbatten responsible.

In the history of India, the India-Pakistan partition is a chapter that shook the soul of the country deeply. Lakhs of families were separated, crores of people were displaced and thousands of lives were bloodied. Even 78 years after independence, the echo of that pain is heard. Now the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has taken the initiative to convey this dark chapter to the new generation with truth. For this, a special educational module has been released on 'Partition Horrors Memorial Day'.

What is the specialty of this new module?

This module has been titled Partition ke Criminals. It has been divided into two parts, one for class 6 to 8 and the other for class 9 to 12. The special thing is that it will not be a part of the compulsory book of any class but will be used as supplementary educational material. Its purpose is to inspire students to understand and think about history instead of just memorizing it. The methods of teaching it have also been kept very interesting. It will include creative methods like poster making, essay writing, role-play, debate and group discussion. This means that students will not just listen, but will live history through their participation.

Who was held responsible?

Muhammad Ali Jinnah - who first put forward the demand for Pakistan.

Congress, which finally accepted this demand.

Lord Mountbatten - who was the last Viceroy of the then India and under whose hands the partition was implemented. The module also tells that partition was not just a political decision, but it was a decision that broke the lives and dreams of millions of people.

Nehru's historical speech

Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru's speech of July 1947 has also been included in this module. He had said, "Partition is bad, but whatever be the cost of unity, the cost of civil war will be much more than that. This statement clarifies the compulsions and circumstances of that time. On one hand, the country was preparing for the celebration of independence and on the other hand, it was struggling with the pain of partition.

The real picture of partition

During the partition, about 6 lakh people were killed.

About 1.5 crore people were displaced from their homes.

The economy of prosperous provinces like Punjab and Bengal was destroyed.

Jammu and Kashmir was pushed towards such instability, which later took the form of terrorism.

Why is this module important?

The purpose of this module is not just to teach history, but to make people feel it. When students participate in role-play or debate, they will be able to understand how difficult the decisions must have been in that era. Along with this, they will also learn how a wrong decision can leave long-lasting wounds for future generations.
