Nautapa, the nine hottest days of the year, will begin on May 25 and last till June 8. This period is known for scorching heat, dry winds, and intense sunlight—all of which can take a serious toll on your skin health, not just your body. Prolonged exposure to this heat can cause tanning, irritation, rashes, pimples, and dehydration-related damage to the skin.
Here’s how to protect and care for your skin during Nautapa:
🌿 1. Keep Your Skin Hydrated
- Drink 4–5 liters of water daily to flush out toxins and keep your skin naturally moisturized.
- Include natural hydrating drinks in your diet like:
- Coconut water
- Bel (wood apple) juice
- Lassi (buttermilk)
- Lemonade
- Sattu drinks
🍃 2. Use Natural, Chemical-Free Skincare
- Avoid harsh market-based products. Use home remedies like:
- Aloe vera gel for cooling and healing
- Cucumber juice for refreshing skin
- Gram flour and curd masks for deep cleansing
- Rose water as a natural toner
- Multani mitti (Fuller’s Earth) and rice flour for oil control and glow
🧼 3. Wash Your Face Twice a Day
- Cleanse your face regularly with a mild, skin-friendly face wash.
- This helps unclog pores affected by sweat, dust, and pollution, reducing the chances of breakouts and irritation.
🧴 4. Never Skip Sunscreen
- Even if you stay indoors, apply sunscreen to protect from indirect UV rays.
- Use SPF 30 or higher, and apply 20 minutes before stepping out.
- Reapply every 2–3 hours if outdoors for prolonged periods.
👚 5. Choose Breathable Cotton Clothing
- Cotton allows your skin to breathe and helps in reducing sweat-induced rashes, redness, and irritation.
- Avoid synthetic fabrics, which trap heat and moisture.
🥗 6. Eat Right for Healthy Skin
- Avoid oily, spicy foods which can trigger skin flare-ups.
- Eat water-rich fruits like:
- Watermelon
- Muskmelon
- Cucumber
- Mango (in moderation)
- Papaya
- Bael fruit
