Bhopal HuT Terror Conspiracy Case: The NIA has so far filed charge sheets against a total of 18 accused in this case. The first charge sheet was filed on November 4, 2023, against 17 accused.

National Investigation Agency takes major action in a terror conspiracy case.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday (November 6, 2025) filed a charge sheet against a new accused in the Hizb-ut-Tahrir (HuT) terror conspiracy case registered in Madhya Pradesh in 2023. New charges have also been added against five previously accused individuals.

The NIA has filed this first supplementary charge sheet in the NIA Special Court in Bhopal. A total of 18 charge sheets have been filed in this case so far. The first charge sheet was filed on November 4, 2023, against 17 accused.

What was revealed in the new charge sheet?

In the new document, the NIA has named Mohsin Khan alias Dawood, Mohammad Alam, Misbah-ul-Hassan, Yasir Khan, Syed Danish Ali, and Mohammad Shahrukh. According to the investigating agency, these individuals carried out the incident of setting a police officer's car on fire at the behest of their foreign handler.

The chargesheet includes new charges against Mohsin Khan under several sections of the UAPA and the Indian Penal Code. New sections have also been added against the remaining five accused, who were previously included in the chargesheet. The case was registered by the Bhopal ATS in May 2023. The investigation revealed that a terrorist organization called Hizb-ut-Tahrir (HuT) was secretly recruiting Muslim youth with the intention of overthrowing India's democratic government and establishing a Sharia-based caliphate in the country.

What came to light in the NIA investigation

The NIA investigation also revealed that the organization held secret meetings disguised as religious gatherings, in which young people were indoctrinated with anti-government sentiments and radical ideology. They were also given weapons and combat training to prepare them for future violent attacks.

The agency is still investigating the case further. The NIA says it is now trying to uncover the larger conspiracy of the HuT organization, its absconding members, supporters, and foreign handlers.
