How to clean window mosquito nets?

Easy Hacks to Clean Window Screens Without Removing: Mosquito screens on windows are quite useful in protecting homes from insects and mosquitoes, but after a while, the screens can accumulate so much dust that they appear dirty. Especially in homes with hot, dusty air, or near a road, dust can accumulate quickly on the screens. Sometimes, the screens become so dirty that even opening the window doesn't allow air to flow in as easily as before.

When you hear the word "cleaning" your grill, many people think it's a necessity to remove it, rinse it with water, and then put it back in. But that's not always the case. If the grill is only covered in dust and light dirt, it can be cleaned effortlessly with a few simple methods.

Why does dust accumulate so quickly on the mesh?

Mosquito nets have very small holes. While these holes allow air to flow in, fine dust particles can also adhere to the mesh surface. This dust eventually begins to form a film. If the mesh is not cleaned for a long time, dust can also accumulate around the frame and track. Sliding windows with mesh can also become difficult to open and close if the track becomes dirty.

Remove dry dust first

Before cleaning the mesh, it's important to remove any loose dust. A soft brush or microfiber cloth can be used for this. Avoid applying excessive pressure to the mesh. Rubbing too hard can stretch or damage the fine mesh. If you have a vacuum cleaner, you can use a soft brush attachment. However, avoid pressing the vacuum nozzle against the mesh. Gently remove dust to avoid undue pressure.

Do not rinse immediately with water.

Simply pouring water on the grate after seeing dust isn't the right approach. It's easier to remove dry dust first. If there's already a lot of dust on the grate and you pour water on it, the dust may become wet and stick to the grate, making cleaning more difficult. If it's possible to clean the grate with a damp cloth, remove the dust first. Then use a slightly damp microfiber cloth. If necessary, you can add a little mild soap to the water. However, it's best to use the cleaning method recommended by the grate manufacturer.

Clean the mesh track as well.

Cleaning the grille alone isn't enough. If your window is sliding, dust, hair, and small particles can also accumulate in the tracks below or on the sides. First, remove any dry dirt from the tracks with a brush or cloth. Then, wipe it down with a slightly damp cloth as needed. However, if the grille is motorized or has electrical components, avoid using water.

Different methods for different meshes

If the window has a pleated screen, clean the creases carefully. Use the brush gently and avoid pulling or squeezing the screen. Don't try to straighten the creases forcefully. Cleaning zippered or motorized screens requires extra care. Keep the motor, controls, and electrical components of such screens away from water. Always consult the operating instructions before opening any part or forcibly removing the screen. If the screen is easily removable, it can be removed and cleaned. However, if it is permanently installed, don't try to remove it just for cleaning.

When is it better to get help rather than cleaning?

If the mesh is torn, the frame is loose, the screen is repeatedly jammed, or the motorized mesh is making strange noises, do not try to force it into operation. In such cases, it is best to seek assistance from the appropriate installer or service provider.
