Operation Sindoor: Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar called the Pahalgam terror attack an economic attack to harm tourism in Kashmir. He said that India's action against terrorism from Pakistan will continue.

Pahalgam Terror Attack: India's Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar has described the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir as an economic attack. He said that the aim of this attack was to harm tourism in Kashmir. Jaishankar clearly said that even if India is threatened with a nuclear attack, the action against terrorism coming from Pakistan will not stop.
US President Trump's claim rejected
Talking to Newsweek in New York, S. Jaishankar said that this attack was not just done to scare people, but with the intention of ending tourism, which is the biggest source of income for Kashmir. The Foreign Minister termed as wrong the statement of US President Donald Trump in which he had said that America forced the ceasefire on India and Pakistan by putting pressure on them for a trade deal.
Jaishankar said, "I myself was with Prime Minister Modi when US Vice President JD Vance spoke on the phone. There was no mention of trade deal in that conversation." He also said that India will stand against terrorism and no threat or pressure can stop us.
Foreign Minister made a big disclosure
The Foreign Minister made a big revelation that on the night of May 9, 2025, when Pakistan had warned of a major attack on India, then Prime Minister Narendra Modi ignored any pressure or fear and took a tough stand.
S. Jaishankar said, "I was in the room when US Vice President JD Vance spoke to PM Modi and told him that Pakistan was going to launch a big attack on India, but we refused to accept some conditions and the Prime Minister did not care at all about Pakistan's threat."
He further said, "On the contrary, the Prime Minister clearly indicated that India will definitely respond." Jaishankar told in the conversation that Pakistan indeed launched a big attack on India that night, but the Indian Army responded immediately and strongly.
What did S. Jaishankar say on Pakistan's ceasefire proposal?
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar also made a big statement about the talks with the US and Pakistan's ceasefire proposal. In a Fireside Chat with Newsweek CEO Dev Pragad in New York, Jaishankar said that India's response to Pakistan's terrorist attacks on India was completely self-reliant and solid.
What happened on May 10?
He said that on the morning of May 10, he had a conversation with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, in which Rubio said that Pakistan is ready for talks. In the afternoon of the same day, Pakistan's DGMO Major General Kashif Abdullah directly called India's DGMO Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai and appealed for ceasefire.
Regarding the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, the foreign minister said, "It was like an economic war, whose aim was to break tourism, the backbone of Kashmir's economy. Also, killing people after asking them about their faith was an attempt to incite religious violence." He said that terrorism has been going on from Pakistan for years, but this time the country felt that enough is enough.
Trump again made a big claim about the ceasefire
Trump said at a press conference in The Hague last Wednesday, "I stopped this dispute by making several trade calls. I said, "If you keep fighting, we will not do a trade deal." Trump also claimed that both India and Pakistan replied, "You have to do a trade deal."
Reacting to this, Jaishankar clarified that India has never linked trade with diplomacy. He said that these are two different processes and there is no truth in Trump's claim.
