In a chilling tale of love, betrayal, and vengeance, a midnight rendezvous turned into a gruesome murder in Rakeli village under Udaipur police station in Ambikapur, Chhattisgarh. A man named Sonu Yadav, who had gone to secretly meet his married girlfriend, was brutally murdered by the woman’s husband and his accomplices on his return.
What Happened That Night
30-year-old Sonu Yadav, from Latori village in Surguja district, had arrived in Rakeli village with two of his friends — Mahesh Yadav and Vijay Yadav — on Tuesday night around 9 PM. He went to meet his lover, who is the first wife of the main accused, Mithlesh Yadav. After spending time with her, Sonu began his journey back.
But what awaited him was no ordinary confrontation.
Mithlesh, already aware of the affair, had laid a trap. With five other men, he intercepted Sonu’s bike as he passed through the village.
The Deadly Ambush
What followed was a vicious assault. Armed with sticks and a sickle (tangi), the group attacked Sonu relentlessly. His two friends managed to flee and save their lives, but Sonu wasn't so lucky. Repeated blows to his head with sharp and blunt weapons proved fatal.
Family members rushed Sonu to a private hospital in Ambikapur, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Police Action and Investigation
Local police have arrested six individuals, including Mithlesh Yadav and Sudama Yadav, in connection with the murder. All are being interrogated, and police say the motive is clear: a deadly fallout of a love affair.
A Village Stunned
The brutal nature of the crime has left the village in shock. While illicit relationships and love affairs often stir controversy, this case — involving premeditation and public violence — has added a grim chapter to the region’s records.
