MI-RR Trade For IPL 2027

It hasn't even been a month since the 19th edition of the Indian Premier League concluded, and discussions about a trade before the upcoming edition have already begun. A few days ago, it was revealed that the Delhi Capitals wanted Rishabh Pant back in their team, who had gone to LSG for a historic ₹27 crore. Now, news has emerged regarding Hardik Pandya, suggesting he and the Mumbai Indians may part ways. Trade discussions between MI and RR are still in their early stages.

Hardik Pandya played for the Mumbai Indians from his first IPL season in 2015 until 2021, but joined the Gujarat Giants as captain in 2022. After leading GT to the title in his first year, he led the team to the finals the following year (2023). However, he returned to MI in 2024, where the team replaced Rohit Sharma as captain, but Hardik was unsuccessful. In 2024, MI finished at the bottom of the points table, reached the playoffs in 2025, and finished 9th in 2026.

Mumbai Indians want to take Yashasvi.

According to reports, the Mumbai Indians want Yashasvi Jaiswal in their team via trade and will allow their captain to move to Rajasthan. These talks are still in the initial stages. MI had significant problems last season regarding the opening pair with Rohit Sharma. If Jaiswal joins, it could be a good pairing, as they have opened together in international competitions. Hardik isn't the only player who could leave Mumbai.

Suryakumar may be out; this player can become the captain.

The BCCI has removed Suryakumar Yadav from the T20 captaincy, and he's not even considered for a place in the T20 team. It's possible he won't even be part of the Mumbai Indians squad in IPL 2027. In the last edition, he scored only 270 runs in 13 innings. However, several other teams may consider acquiring him and making him their captain.

Mumbai Indians may choose Tilak Varma, who was recently named vice-captain of the national T20 team by the BCCI, as their new captain. All of this will be decided at MI's review meeting, which will take place next week.
