The domestic and commercial gas cylinder tax price in the country today
LPG Cylinder Rate Today on May 8: Prices for domestic and commercial LPG gas cylinders remained largely stable today, Friday, May 8, 2026. Prices remained unchanged despite continued fluctuations in global oil markets.
On May 1, the price of commercial LPG (19 kg) was increased by an average of ₹993 due to the US-Israel-Iran conflict. Commercial LPG cylinder prices in Delhi are now ₹3,071.50 (up from ₹2,078.50 previously). Similarly, commercial LPG cylinder prices in Mumbai have been increased from ₹2,031 to ₹3,024.
How much has the price of a domestic gas cylinder increased?
In March, the price of domestic liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) was increased by ₹60 per cylinder. According to data from the Indian Oil Corporation, following this latest change, the price of a 14.2-kilogram non-subsidized LPG cylinder—used by most households, excluding those benefiting from the Ujjwala Yojana—is now ₹913 in Delhi. The price of a 5-kilogram "free trade" (FTL) cylinder also increased by approximately ₹261.
There is no shortage of LPG.
The government has recently clarified that there is currently no shortage of domestic LPG (cooking gas) in the country. However, due to ongoing tensions in West Asia, there is some pressure on the supply chain, and several steps have been taken to manage this, such as increasing the gap between refill bookings from 21 days to 25 days to prevent hoarding. A one-household, one-connection rule has been implemented. It is now illegal to have both LPG and PNG (piped gas) connections at the same address. If you have a PNG connection in your home, you will be required to surrender the LPG cylinder.
