Why did the price of gas cylinders increase?

The government and oil companies say the price of domestic LPG cylinders has been raised due to rising international energy prices and rising costs. In June, the price of domestic LPG cylinders was increased by ₹29. However, beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PM-Ujjwala Yojana) continue to receive a ₹300 subsidy. Consequently, a domestic cylinder costs approximately ₹642 in Delhi.

Increased impact on the budget of common people

Following the price hikes in March and June, domestic gas cylinders have become significantly more expensive than before. This is directly impacting household kitchen budgets. The cost of commercial cylinders has also increased hotel and restaurant expenses, which could impact food prices.
