Breast Cancer Awareness Month is celebrated in October. This awareness month is celebrated to increase awareness related to breast cancer and increasing resistance to breast cancer. Its main objective is to encourage women's health care through breast cancer detection, awareness, screening, and treatment.
Celebrating Breast Cancer Awareness Month started for the first time in 1985. In 2009, Global Pink Hijab Day was started as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, in which Muslim women were seen supporting breast cancer awareness by wearing a pink hijab.
Statistics show that one out of every 8 women becomes a victim of this cancer. Like other types of cancer, breast cancer is also fatal. According to the National Cancer Institute, the risk of cancer can be reduced to a great extent through yoga. Yoga exercises help reduce the levels of hormones which increase the risk of cancer. In this article, some special asanas and pranayam of yoga are explained, which can help reduce the risk of cancer.
Balasana
Balasana is also known as Child's Pose. This pose relaxes the chest muscles, hips, thighs, and back. Practicing Balasana can be beneficial for breast cancer patients. Balasana can be practiced to keep the mind calm as well as provide relief from fatigue and stress.
Pranayama
According to researchers, the habit of practicing pranayam can be beneficial in the problem of breast cancer. Pranayama is useful as an adjunct therapy for breast cancer patients undergoing radiation therapy. Apart from preventing the growth of cancer cells, pranayama can be practiced to maintain better mental health.
Matsyasana yoga
Matsyasana yoga is called heart opener yoga, which means opening the chest, ribs, lungs, and upper back. It reduces the risk of breast cancer by stimulating lymphatic drainage in the breasts and pecs. According to yoga experts, regular practice of this yoga can increase immunity, which helps reduce the risk of cancer.
