According to the report of Sensor Tower, the download of Instagram have increased by 20 percent in the world. In the year 2023, the Instagram app was downloaded 767 million times, which is 20 percent more than the year before i.e. in 2022. Talking about TikTok, it was downloaded 73.3 crore times. This Chinese app is banned in India and preparations are underway to ban it in America.
How did Instagram become so popular?
The popularity of Instagram has increased since 2020 because Reels was launched this year. Instagram Reels was launched only after the craze of people's videos. Instagram Reels is a feature in which users can share videos on this platform by creating short clips.
The reel feature of Instagram is most popular among the young generation. Youth make videos on different topics and share them on Instagram. This is a major reason for the increasing popularity of the Instagram app.
TikTok is ahead in terms of time spent
Instagram may have become the world's number 1 app in terms of downloads, but TikTok is still ahead in terms of time spent. Last year's figures show that users spent an average of 95 minutes on TikTok, while on Instagram this time was 62 minutes. Apart from this, users spent 30 minutes on X (formerly Twitter) and 19 minutes on Snapchat.
The Indian government banned TikTok in the year 2020, when the Indian government took action against 59 Chinese-owned apps, after which ByteDance got a big blow from India. With a population of about one and a half billion, India is the biggest market for internet and tech companies.
