Due to disturbances in lifestyle and diet, bone problems are increasing rapidly, hence the risk of arthritis-osteoporosis is being seen in people below 30 years of age. In a serious problem like osteoporosis, the mass of bones reduces significantly due to which there can be a risk of them breaking easily. World Osteoporosis Day is celebrated every year on 20 October to make people aware of the increasing cases of this disease and educate them about prevention.

Health experts say that the risk of this disease is increasing due to many wrong habits in our lifestyle. Many habits are making bones brittle, which is why a large number of young populations are being diagnosed with arthritis.

Let us know which bad habits are considered to be risk factors for osteoporosis, from which it is advised to stay away immediately.

Sedentary lifestyle increases the risk
A sedentary lifestyle i.e. spending most of the day sitting is considered harmful to both physical and mental health. This also increases the risk of many types of chronic diseases ranging from obesity, diabetes, and heart problems.

Health experts say that people who spend most of the day sitting have a higher risk of osteoporosis than those who are more active. To reduce such risks, it may be beneficial to include exercise in your daily routine.

Quit alcohol and smoking immediately
Researchers found that alcohol and smoking are two bad habits that are seriously damaging the entire body. This increases the risk of diseases ranging from liver, and lungs to cancer. Research has found that alcohol consumption also increases the risk of osteoporosis. Similarly, tobacco and smoking are seen to hurt bone density. By quitting these two habits, the risk of chronic diseases can be reduced by 40 percent.

Dietary disturbances
A healthy and nutritious diet is considered to have a special role in keeping bones healthy and strong. Junk and fast foods increase inflammation in the body and contain low levels of nutrients, increasing the risk of obesity which is problematic for bones. Apart from this, including excess salt and sugar in the diet can also increase many other bone diseases including osteoporosis.

Calcium and Vitamin D deficiency
Calcium is considered essential for making bones healthy and strong. If your diet does not contain calcium-rich items like dairy products, nuts, and seeds, then it can increase bone problems. Consumption of Vitamin D along with calcium is also important because without Vitamin D the absorption of calcium in the body can be affected. Deficiency of these two can make you a victim of problems like arthritis and osteoporosis at an early age.
