Who was Louis Braille?
Louis Braille was born on January 4, 1809, in a village named Cupre, France. His father's name was Simon Raleigh Braille, who by profession made saddles and saddles for royal horses. The financial condition of the family was tight, due to which Lewis started working with his father at the age of just three. However, in an accident, a knife entered one of his eyes, and the eye got damaged. Later he also started losing vision in his other eye. Due to shortage, he could not even get proper treatment. Louis Braille lost his vision completely at the age of 8.

How was the Braille script invented?
Louis Braille did not give up and enrolled in the school for the blind. During this time he came to know about an army code which helped in reading the messages even in the dark. Lewis also thought of such a script for the blind and invented the Braille script.

Braille script is like a boon for those who cannot see. Braille is a tactile code for reading and writing for the blind. In this, a special type of embossed paper is used, on which the raised dots can be read by touching them. Braille script can be written through 'Braillewriter', a machine similar to a typewriter. History of World Braille Day
According to a report by the United Nations' World Health Organization, about 39 million people worldwide cannot see. At the same time, about 253 million people have some kind of vision disorder. Due to such a large number of visually impaired people, the United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution on 6 November 2018 that World Braille Day will be celebrated every year on 4 January, the birthday of Louis Braille.
