Anant Chaturdashi 2023: Anant Chaturdashi fast has great importance in Sanatan Dharma, it is also known as Anant Chaudas. On this day the infinite form of Lord Vishnu is worshipped. Chaturdashi of Shukla Paksha in Bhadrapada month is called Anant Chaturdashi. On this day, after worshiping Lord Anant (Lord Vishnu), Anant Sutra is tied on the arm. These are made of cotton or silk and have fourteen knots. Ganesh immersion is also done on the day of Anant Chaturdashi, hence the importance of this festival increases even more.

Importance of 14 knotted thread
The sutra has great importance in the worship of Anant Chaturdashi. This Anant Sutra is prepared by soaking pure silk or cotton thread in turmeric and tying it in 14 knots. It is worn in the hand or neck while meditating on Lord Sri Anant. In every knot, Shri Narayan is worshiped with different names. Anant is worshiped first, followed by Rishikesh, Padmanabha, Madhav, Vaikuntha, Sridhar, Trivikram, Madhusudan, Vaman, Keshav, Narayan, Damodar, and Govind. It is believed that by tying this infinite thread, a person remains away from every trouble. The person who worships Shri Hari ritually on this day gets rid of all sins. Ganesh Visarjan is also done on this day due to which its importance increases even more.

Method of worship
On this day, after setting up the Kalash, Kush should be kept in a beautiful pot. If Kush is not available then Doob can be kept. Keep a thread of cotton colored with saffron, roli, and turmeric in front of the idol or picture of Lord Vishnu and worship him with Ganga water, fragrance, flowers, Akshat, incense sticks, etc. Offer sweets etc. and chant the sutra while meditating on the infinite God. This thread is considered to please Lord Vishnu and give infinite results. Reciting Shri Vishnu Sahastranam Stotra on this day is considered very auspicious. It is very beneficial to recite the story of Shri Satyanarayan for the blessings of Lord Vishnu.

Rules for tying Anant Sutra
Men observing fast should tie it in their right hand and women in their left hand. One should not wear black and blue colored clothes while worshiping on this day. Anantasutra should be tied only after worshiping Lord Vishnu. The person tying Anant Sutra should observe fast throughout the day, this brings blessings and blessings of Lord Vishnu. There is a religious belief that after tying the Anant Sutra, one should not eat tamasic food for fourteen days and during this period one should follow celibacy. While tying the thread, chant the mantra Om Anantaya Namah. It is believed that by tying it one gets the boon of health and also the sins of past and present birth are destroyed.
