Who can be harmed by eating papaya?

  • Women are prohibited from eating papaya during pregnancy. Papaya contains latex which can cause contraction of the uterus. Due to this the chances of pregnancy complications including miscarriage increases. This may also cause harm to the baby. Let us tell you that this happens due to eating raw papaya.
  • Papaya should not be consumed in case of kidney stone problems. It contains Vitamin C in large quantities. People who are already suffering from the problem of stones or have a history of stones are at risk of the formation of calcium oxalate. Due to this the problem of stone can become more serious.

  • If you are a heart patient then you should not consume papaya. Or one should eat only on the advice of the doctor. The papain present in papaya can slow down the heartbeat. Which can become a cause of trouble for heart patients.
  • Consuming it is beneficial in diabetes but if you suffer from low blood sugar i.e. you have hypoglycemia then consuming it can reduce your blood sugar level to a great extent. This can make the situation serious.
  • People who are allergic to latex should also avoid consuming papaya. Due to the reaction, problems like sneezing, difficulty in breathing, and watery eyes can occur.
