Meta-owned WhatsApp is reportedly working on a message pin duration feature. Spotted by WaBetaInfo, the feature is currently under development which means the company is working on it.
It has been discovered in the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.13.11 update available on the Google Play Store. The report states that it will enable users to choose for how long a message should be pinned in a chat.
What is this new feature and how does it work
The report states that the feature will offer three different time limits for its users to choose from 24 hours, 7 days, and 30 days. The report further states that users will have the option to unpin pinned messages at any time, even before the chosen time limit expires, giving users more control over their pinned messages. This feature is also shown in the screenshot.
The message Pin Duration feature will work like this
WaBetaInfo has said in its report that the new message pin duration feature will inform people about the message at the right time. Once the set time has elapsed, the message is automatically unpinned. Also, the pinned message gets automatically unpinned after a specific time. As of now, this feature is under development and is expected to be released to beta testers in a future update of the app.
