Water Tips: According to Ayurveda, water is the lifeline and it is essential for every living being. It not only keeps us hydrated but also removes toxins from the body and helps all other organs to function smoothly. But, do you know that drinking water in the wrong way can cause more harm than good? Let us know about the right way of drinking water-
Is it safe to drink water stored overnight?
Many of us have a habit of filling water in a bottle overnight and drinking that water in the morning and the strangest thing about this sitting water is that it tastes different than fresh tap or filtered water. The change in taste is due to carbon dioxide. According to studies, keeping water open for 12 hours or more causes molecular changes in water. It has been found that the carbon dioxide in the air starts mixing with it, which lowers the pH level and as a result makes the water tasteless.
Although it has not been confirmed now whether this water is safe or not, experts suggest that drinking such water should be avoided. Experts also stress that open water should be avoided as it can contain dirt and debris.
How is it harmful?
According to experts, drinking open water is not safe as when we take a sip the bacteria sitting on the rim of the bottle or glass enter the system and can cause harm in the long run. The risk of getting sick increases when you share your water bottle with someone who has a communicable disease.
What is the right way to drink water?
It is advisable to always drink a fresh glass of water from the tap or filter. If you have a habit of drinking water in the middle of the night or during sleep, keep a glass with a cover with your water bottle. Also, it is advised to avoid drinking water from the same bottle the next morning. Always wash the bottle or change the bottle every morning and drink.
