Uttar Pradesh Transport Corporation has selected NEC Corporation India to strengthen the safety of buses of Uttar Pradesh. With this, live tracking of the bus can be done. Due to live tracking, the security of passengers including women can be strengthened. The project is supported by the Centre's Nirbhaya Fund.

Tech company NEC Corporation India on Tuesday informed that the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) has been selected as the master integrator for the Live Tracking-Passenger Information System project.

UPSRTC General Manager (IT) Yajuvendra Kumar said that NEC India has successfully implemented bus projects in several countries in the Middle East apart from India. On the other hand, Pankaj Bhatia, General Manager (Transport Business), NEC India, said that we are grateful for UPSRTC's trust. With the expertise we have gathered from many cities across the world including India, we hope to do a better job.

Display screens will also be installed at 100 major bus stands in the state.
Under the project, AIS 140-based Vehicle Location Tracking (VLT) equipment and emergency safety buttons will also be installed in most of the UPSRTC buses, along with live tracking of the buses. Large display screens will also be installed at 100 major and major bus stands in the state to provide information to the passengers. A Command Control Center will be opened at the UPSRTC Headquarters in Lucknow. Apart from this, 20 visual centers will also be established in the regional headquarters.

NEC Company has successfully operated in Ahmedabad, Surat, and other cities of the country including Hubli and Dharwad. Apart from India, the company has also implemented similar projects in Makkah (Saudi Arabia), and Mowaslat (Qatar).
