Online payment service Google Pay has launched its Lite service UPI Lite in India. This facility has been introduced to make digital payments simple, fast, and reliable. The company says that UPI LITE enables users to make fast and single-click UPI payments without having to enter a UPI PIN.

The company says that the Lite account is linked to the user's bank account, but is not dependent on the core banking system of the issuing bank in real time. The UPI Lite account can be loaded up to Rs 2,000 twice a day and allows users to do instant UPI transactions of up to Rs 200. To complete the transaction, users need to tap on "Pay Pin-free".


In September 2022 RBI had launched
Explain that the UPI Lite facility was launched by the Reserve Bank of India in September 2022 to ease the online payment process and is enabled by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). Fifteen banks support UPI Lite as of now, with more banks to support it in the coming months.

Activate UPI LITE account like this
To activate a UPI Lite account, users need to open the Google Pay app and tap on Activate UPI Lite from the profile page.
Now tap on Continue and complete the process with the help of OTP by selecting the bank.
On completion of the linking process, users will be able to add funds up to Rs.2000 to their UPI Lite account, subject to a maximum limit of Rs.4000 per day.
Up to Rs 200 can be added to the UPI Lite balance by default.
Users need to tap on "Pay PIN-free" to complete the UPI Lite transaction.
