Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman informed the House in her budget speech that 1.28 crore registrations and 14 lakh applications have been received in the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme, after which a jump of more than 11% was also seen in the solar stock around noon. What is the Pradhan Mantri Surya Free Electricity Scheme?

PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 15 February 2024. The objective of this scheme is to provide up to 300 units of electricity free of cost every month to about 1 crore families in the country. Under the Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme, a subsidy will be given by the government to buy solar panels.

Let us tell you that under the Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme, if a person buys a solar panel for electricity on the roof of his house, then the government will give a subsidy amount of Rs 30,000 on 1 kW solar panel, Rs 60,000 on 2 kW solar panel and a maximum of Rs 78,000 on 3 kW solar panel.

How can you avail the benefits?

Now the question arises how can one avail the benefits of this scheme? So let us tell you that to avail the benefits of this scheme, first of all, you have to go to the official portal pmsuryaghar.gov.in. After this, you have to click on Apply For Rooftop Solar on the home page. After doing this, you will get the option to choose your state, in this you choose your state. After this, you select your electricity distribution company. Now enter your mobile and consumer number in it. Then enter the OTP received on the mobile fill the captcha and click on the submit button.

After completing this process, you apply for rooftop solar. Before doing online, you must have documents like an Aadhar Card, Mobile Number, Electricity Bill, Ration Card, Income Certificate, Photo, Affidavit, and Residence Certificate.
