About 'Jaga Mission':
Jaga Mission is a slum upgrading program run by the Government of Odisha. Which efforts are being made to bring them into the mainstream of life? The government led by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik started this initiative. Odisha government started this first-of-its-kind project in 2018.
Under this, this program is being run to upgrade 2,919 slum areas. Its goal is to make the state of Odisha the first slum-free state of India.
Jaga Mission has earlier won the UN-Habitat, World Habitat Awards in 2019. Along with this, this initiative has also received the 'India Geospatial Excellence Award'.
World Habitat Awards:
World Habitat Awards World Habitat Awards are given to recognize and recognize innovative programs, best housing schemes, and programs run to empower the life of a particular community around the world.
Over the years, over 360 outstanding World Habitat Awards projects have been recognized for empowering people's lives.
Each year two winners are awarded £10,000 (each) and a trophy, which is also presented at the global UN-Habitat event.
