You too must have gone many times where there is more than one tourist place. If you have heard or seen about the twin tomb located in Lucknow? Yes, here we are not talking about twin children but we are talking about two identical tombs. If you do not know, then let's talk in this article.
Do the twin tombs exist?
Yes, it is mentioned in history that both these mausoleums belong to Begum Hazrat Ali Bagh. These were built in the 18th century for NawabSaadat Ali Khan and Begum KhurshidZadi. Please tell that this mausoleum is present near Begum Hazrat Mahal Park, where the graves of both are also present. Although, they have become very old still look very attractive.
Saadat Ali was a special ruler of Lucknow, who also built many types of buildings in Lucknow. Saadat Ali's son's name was GhaziuddinHaider and his wife's name was Khurshid Zaidi. It is said that when these tombs were built by GhaziuddinHaider in memory of his parents.
How is the architecture?
The twin mausoleum structures represent a classical tradition of the Indo-Islamic style and are fine examples of Nawabi-era architecture. The bell tower and the beautiful dome have been made in these mausoleums, which will surely compel you to watch. The floors of the mausoleum are covered with black and white marble, which is rare, as the stone was scarce in this part of the country.
Mainly the mausoleum has five floors, including the basement. The front walls of the mausoleum have splendid stucco work and are decorated with a hemispherical dome, which is surmounted by a narrow regular moulding.
What is special?
We have already told you its speciality, which is the most popular tourist attraction of Kaiserbagh. They are known for their intricate architecture and the lush gardens around them. The twin mausoleums are said to have been fortified by Indian soldiers during the Indian Rebellion of 1857.
Also, in 1858, sixteen soldiers of Sir Henry Havelock are said to have attacked the mausoleum. Many soldiers were martyred in this, whose graves have also been made in this tomb.
How to go?
You have to go to Lucknow to see this mosque. Let us tell you that you can go to Lucknow by train. If you do not live far away then going by bus is the best option for you. After reaching Lucknow, you will have to take a taxi to Saadat Ali Khan Tomb, Kaiserbagh.
