The idol of Lord Hanuman is 36 feet tall.
Panchavati Anjaneya Temple is located in Panjavadi village, about 9 km from Puducherry. The temple is named after Panchavati where Lord Rama, Mother Sita, and Lakshmana lived in huts during their 14 years of exile. This temple is also called Anjaneya (son of Anjani) or Hanuman temple.
The temple has a five-faced idol of Lord Hanuman made of black stone in a standing posture. The length of this idol is about 36 feet and the width is 8 feet. It is possibly the second-tallest statue in India. Such a wonderful and unique idol of Lord Hanuman is not seen anywhere else.
People come to pray
The consecration of this temple took place in June 2003. The temple has been built on about one and a half acres of land. On Saturdays, this temple sees the maximum crowd of devotees, who come here for 5 Saturdays to pray continuously to fulfill their wishes. There is also a Ganapati and a Ram Darbar in the Anjaneya temple.
