The temples of Kedarnath have been opened for devotees. In such a situation, devotees of Shiva eagerly wait to visit this Dham every year. It is believed that Baba Kedar gives his darshan to any devotee who decides to give him darshan. Such is the story of a devotee of Lord Shiva, after whom Kedarnath Dham is called Jagrut Mahadev. So let us tell you today how the name of Kedarnath, the favorite abode of Lord Shiva, came to be. Let's know about it...

That's why Kedarnath is called Jagrut Mahadev
According to mythology, once a Shiva devotee set out from his village on a journey to Kedarnath Dham. Earlier, due to a lack of adequate transport facilities, they had to travel on foot. In this way, whoever he met, he would ask him the way to Kedarnath and meditate on Lord Shiva in his mind. In this way, the devotee spent many months while walking. Finally one day he reached Kedarnath. In Kedarnath, the doors of the temple open for 6 months and remain closed for 6 months. But the devotees reached the temple when the doors were closing. The priest of the temple told the devotee that he had walked for many months to have the darshan of Baba Shiva. Please open the door to have the darshan of Lord Shiva but there is a rule that once the door is closed i.e. the devotee cries a lot. Apart from this he repeatedly remembered Lord Shiva and requested him to give him darshan.

Baba Kedar met the devotee
The pundits of the temple said that now come here after six months because only then the doors will open. It has been snowing and cold here for six months, everyone has gone, and the devotee is crying there. Well, it started getting dark and there was darkness all around, but they were confident that Lord Shiva would give them darshan. The devotee was very hungry, so he heard someone's call. Then he saw that a Sanyasi Baba was coming towards him. That Baba came to that ascetic devotee and sat beside him. Sanyasi Baba asked him, Son, who are you and where have you come from? Told the whole thing to the devotee. Baba kept talking to the devotee for a long time and showed mercy on him. He said, Son, I think the temple will open in the morning and you will get darshan.

Devotee's open wakes up after 6 months
I didn't realize when the devotee fell asleep while talking to Baba. The next day when he opened his eyes, he saw that Sanyasi Baba was nowhere. Before he could understand the situation, he saw the Pandit with the whole congregation coming towards the temple. He bowed down to the Pandit and said that you had said that the temple would now open after 6 months. No one will come during this time but you came in the morning itself. The pundit observed the devotee and tried to identify him. After this, he said that you are the one who came there when the door was closed. He also met me and came back after six months. There was no limit to the wonder of the devotee after hearing this. The pundit said how did you survive for six months? Then that devotee told the story of meeting Baba Sanyasi. The devotee told that a Sanyasi Baba had come to him wearing a mrigshala, long and thick hair, Trishul in one hand, and damru in one hand. All the pundits etc. fell at the feet of the devotee. He said that we have spent our whole life, but could not see God. You are the true devotee. Because of this story, Kedarnath is called Jagrut Mahadev.
