From childhood till growing up, all of us must have travelled on the train not once but thousands of times. There can be many ways to go from one state to another or even from one city to another, but travelling by train has different fun. Every day crores of people travel from one place to another by train in India. That is why the Indian train is also called the lifeline of the country.

But many people do not know which seat to book or which seat not to book while booking tickets. Some people do not know how many types of seats there are. If you do not know then you must read this article. Let's know.

How many types of seats are there on the train?

Before talking about train seats, let us tell you that there are mainly five types of seats in Sleeper Class (SL).

  • Upper berth
  • Middle berth
  • Lower berth
  • Side lower berth
  • Side upper berth

Upper Berth

First, let's talk about the upper seat. We have already told you that there are five types of seats in the sleeper class. The upper seat is at the top of the sleeper class coach. If elderly people book tickets on the train, then they are given this seat very rarely, because they have trouble climbing up. Therefore, this seat is mostly referred to the youth at the time of booking.

Middle Berth

The middle seat is called that which is between the upper berth and the lower berth. While booking tickets, very few people want to book the middle berth because it is very difficult to sit on this seat. If someone puts a lower berth to sleep, then the person has more problems. This seat is referred more by the railways to the people of 30-40 years.

Lower Berth

Let us tell you that the seat which is at the bottom is called the lower berth. The lower seat is referred to more by the Indian Railways to the elderly people, as they find it very difficult to get up or down on the upper or middle berth.

Side Upper & Side Lower Berth

The Sleeper class offers upper berths, middle and lower berths as well as side upper and side lower berths. Side lower is also mostly referred to as elderly people. Side upper seat is more commonly referred to by the Indian Railways to the people or youth of 30-40 years.

How many types of seats are there in AC?

Let us tell you that like the sleeper class, there is a seat in the 3rd ac. But there is no middle seat in 2nd class Ac. Apart from this, 2nd class AC has side upper and side lower seat. If we talk about 1st class AC, then it has only two seats. Apart from this, there is also a chair sitting seat on some trains.

General Seat

If we talk about the seat of the general compartment, then there is no booking of lower and upper seats in it. Five to seven people sit on a seat in the general compartment. Apart from this, there is only a seating area on the side seat.
