If someone travels with his vehicle anywhere in India. And he goes from one state to another. So he has to pay toll tax. Toll plazas have been built in India for toll tax. Where vehicles have to pay toll tax. There was a time when people had to get slips for toll tax by standing in a line of vehicles. And had to pay tolls manually. But now the situation has completely changed.
Fastag is now used for toll tax in India. Now there is no need to stand in lines for this. Now the scanner installed at the toll plaza scans the fastag installed on your vehicles. And your toll is deducted. But now the news is coming that toll plazas can be closed. Because now the technology of toll deduction from the satellite is coming. Let us tell you what are the five big things about this.
GNSS-based toll system is going to be implemented
There is going to be a big change in the way toll tax is being paid in India. The Government of India is preparing to launch a satellite-based toll system. This satellite-based system is called GNSS Toll Electronic System i.e. Global Navigation Satellite System. Union Road and Transport Minister of the Government of India, Nitin Gadkari, has also given a statement about this in the Rajya Sabha recently. He said that there is a plan to install GNSS based toll system on some selected national highways in India.
The toll will be deducted from the satellite
With the implementation of the Global Navigation Satellite System, all vehicles will not need to take Fastag from different banks. Nor will there be a hassle of recharge. The new system will be directly connected to the satellite. For this, a toll booth can be built at a different place. From where the data of all the vehicles passing on the highway will be collected? The toll will be charged according to the distance traveled by the vehicle.
Will toll plazas be abolished?
If the Global Navigation Satellite System is implemented in the whole of India. Then there will be no need for physical toll plazas in India. Because there will be no need to stop vehicles for toll collection. And when there will be no need to search for vehicles, then there will be no need for toll plazas either. That is, toll plazas can be eliminated in the future.
Will work on hybrid model
Let us tell you that the Government of India is currently going to implement the GNSS Global Navigation Satellite System only at selected places. It will currently work on hybrid model in India. That is, tolls will be deducted from the Global Navigation Satellite System and tolls will continue to be deducted through Fastag as well.
Fastag will not be closed
Because no planning has been done yet to implement the Global Navigation Satellite System completely in India. There are around 599 national highways in India. So in such a situation, it is not completely correct to say that toll plazas will be completely closed. The government is currently considering implementing GNSS toll system on only a few of these highways. That is, tolls will continue to be deducted through Fastag on the remaining highways.
