One day my friend Seema's 10-year-old daughter Aarti complained of severe toothache at night. Although she didn't want her daughter to be in pain, she was hesitant to give her painkillers. Aarti will eventually need to consult a dentist, but in the meantime, the little girl's mother has turned to Ayurvedic remedies to give her some relief from toothache.

Like Aarti's mother, many people turn to Ayurvedic remedies described in ancient Indian texts to relieve toothache. In Ayurveda, a toothache is known as Dantashul. An ancient Indian science, Ayurveda treats toothache by eliminating its cause.

All natural things are used for this treatment. Plus, it has treatments for both chronic and acute pain. Therefore, it can be a safe option for parents to treat toothache in their children.

If your child or you are complaining of a severe toothache, try the following remedies for relief. Ayurvedic expert Jitunchadan is telling us about the natural remedies for toothache. He has shared this information through his Instagram. Its caption wrote, 'Do you usually experience toothache? By doing this Ayurvedic practice regularly, one gets relief from pain.

Remedy for toothache: Gandusha

In Gandusha, sesame oil is kept steady in the mouth until watery discharge starts from the nose and eyes. Gandusha is a process associated with the Ayurvedic system of medicine. This is usually done in the morning before brushing your teeth. The technique involved a slight facelift.

Finally, spit it out and wash your mouth with warm water. The choice of liquids varies depending on the situation: oil, ghee, fermented porridge, wine, etc.

Sesame oil is used on special occasions to prevent tooth decay, toothache, hyper sensibility and tremor. It helps in removing bacteria from gums and teeth. It helps in removing mouth ulcers. It also exercises the muscles of the mouth, thereby strengthening and toning them.

Gandusha benefits and importance

The importance of Gandush Kriya is that it is a traditional and time-tested method of helping maintain oral health. Your visits to the dentist for teeth whitening and decay treatment can be reduced by using gandusha. It can become a part of your daily routine and you can experience many benefits by doing it daily.

Gandusha offers several benefits when done correctly-

This helps in maintaining good oral hygiene. It helps in keeping the teeth and gums clean. Swirling the oil helps to ensure that any food particle debris stuck in the teeth is removed and expelled when the oil is spat out.

  • Gandusha oil has antibacterial properties and helps in killing bacteria in the mouth. It is this bacteria that cause cavities and many other problems. It works in the same way as a mouthwash but instead of using chemicals, natural plant-based oils are used which are safer.
  • The main reason for doing gandusha is to help reduce toxins from the mouth. When toxins are removed, this can lead to sweating which proves that the process is working well.
  • Regularly doing gandusha can help in strengthening the muscles of the face.
  • This helps to ensure that toxins do not affect digestion, thus helping in better digestion.
  • Gandusha can be more effective than brushing. The brush does not reach the corners of the teeth. When you do oil pulling, the oil reaches every corner of the teeth. Thus it is more effective and helpful than normal brushing when done properly.
  • It helps in strengthening the gums. It also helps in removing plaque.
  • Sinus and other bacterial infections cause sore throats. Gargling is a proven technique for reducing pain. Gargling with antibacterial oil helps to ensure that the symptoms of a sore throat are better managed.
  • Gandusha helps in keeping your mouth fresh.
  • It is believed that gandusha can help in whitening teeth.

Ayurveda can provide an effective remedy for both chronic and acute toothache. Ayurvedic treatment provides relief from pain by tackling the root cause of the problem naturally and holistically without any side effects. It also eliminates the possibility of any recurrence.
